I want to have a successful profile for this website by April 1, 2010. I can achieve this goal by playing with all of the buttons on the website to see what other people have done so I can try to mimic them. To prove this I will post pictures of my profile on my blog along with comments on what I think about the website. http://www.youngcomposers.com/pg/profile/jeolynch

1. Go to YoungComposers.Com
2. Register or sign in in the box at the right side of the screen. You will have to check your email to activate your account.
3. Click "My Profile".
4. Update as much or as little information about yourself as you would like.
5. To get a profile or avatar picture, click the frame.
6. Click "Browse" to select a picture that you have already saved to you computer.
7. (Your profile picture is the picture on your profile that people see when they see your information. Your avatar is the picture at the top of the page and it shows on their profile page when you favorite their music.)
8. To get new music, click "Home".
9. The most popular songs are listed. You can listen to theseby pushing "Play". If yu like them click "Add to Favorites". This will add the song to your playlist and take you to your playlist.
10. Push the triangle to listen to the song. There is a volume control next to it. If you don't like the song, click the red "x" to delete it. If you click the song title, it will take you back to the profile of the person who published it on this site.
11. Here you can read why they wrote this song and what style it is. You can als see how others rated it and what they commented. If you comment, your username appears, but your picture does not. Click post to post your comment. You can listen to "All of (their) music". Or view their profile by clicking their username.
12. If you select "home", the right side of the screen has a place to discuss musical concepts to impove your music. You can see what others have suggested, make your own suggestions, and see who else is viewing the topic.
13. If you see a person who composes the style of music you like, click their name and once you get to their proflie send them a friend request by clicking "Add Friend".
14. At "Home" you can see who is new to the website.
15. Int the middl eof the scrren you can see what has happened on that site for the day.
16. Beneath that you can see how many users have been online in the past 15 minutes and a list of a few of the people. The names are color coded. The legend is at the bottom of the page.
17. Now click "My Music". You won't have anything here yet. You can add your own music here. Fill out the information about the song and upload the song and/or the score here. Be sure t press "save".
18. Your playlist is cmposed of song s that you favorited.
19. If you have a friend on there you can see their music on one of the tabs here.
20. Pushing "back" will take you to the last tab you viewed.
21. "Account" will tell you about you activity on the site in a way that is different than your profile will.
22. You can change your settings here. Be sure to save your changes.
23. If you change your email address you will have to reactivate your acocunt.
24. You can store notes if you click "Manage Notes".
25. You can also manage your attachments here.
26. You can connect your profile with FaceBook by clicking "Tools" then "Manage FaceBook Connect". (I had trouble with this step.)
27. From there you can click all of the links to explore.
